The piece moved throughout her body as she played it passionately. Who knew a popular song could be a beautiful violin piece. Arielle was only vaguely aware of her eyebrows knitting together or raising up in a particularly emotional moment while her elegant fingers flew over the strings and shook them as if her life depended on it. Once she was done she was breathless but invigorated. Music could be so healing to her and pick her up whenever she was down. Her violin instructor clapped and nodded his head. "I can tell you've been practicing. That was very good, Arielle. I noticed a few times, though, that you let your passion overtake your precision. A few notes weren't exactly in tune at points, but it's forgivable since you gave a compelling performance," he said.
Arielle loved her instructor and how kind he was when he gave constructive criticism. She knew she wasn't the best player in the world, but her instructor didn't remind her of that. He helped her improve to the best of her ability and sometimes he even pushed her to the limit, but afterwards she appreciated it. "Thank you," she said with a small smile. "Yeah, I could hear when I played the notes wrong. But I'll keep practicing so I can be both passionate and technical." Her instructor smiled and told her to continue practicing before sending her on her way. As she walked down the hall she heard a familiar tune; it was so quiet she'd almost missed it. Her blood raced when she realized that it was a cello suite and she hurried to find the source of the melody.
It sounded like it was coming from the theatre so Arielle looked around before going inside. She saw a girl on the stage playing the cello and she smiled. Sitting down so she wouldn't interrupt, Arielle closed her eyes and listened. This girl was far better than her, but that didn't bother her in the slightest. Arielle knew where her true talents lied, and she was grateful to have them. As she sat she debated silently whether or not she should give into her impulse to play her violin. Usually she'd be afraid of interrupting and getting yelled at, but at this moment -after a great lesson- she was feeling pretty confident. So she got out her violin and went onto the stage near the girl and her cello. At the precise moment, Arielle began playing along in a harmony of the melody. It sounded beautiful to her ears, but she waited to see what the other girl would think and whether or not she'd tell her to stop.
